What is the Octopus Energy referral code?

The referral code on this site is share.octopus.energy/sepia-star-913 (code part: sepia-star-913). Switching to Octopus Energy with it gets you £50 credit for a home, or £75 for a business.

How do I use an Octopus referral code?

The easiest way is to open the referral link and sign up online on the Octopus website. If you're already signing up, copy and paste the referral code. If you forgot, Octopus says you can contact it with the code, as long as you signed up directly on its website.

When do I get the £50 credit?

After your switch completes and your first monthly Direct Debit is taken. Octopus says this usually takes about four weeks.

Can I use the code through a comparison site?

No. Sign-ups through comparison sites, brokers or by phone don't qualify for referral credit.

Can I use the referral code to join Intelligent Octopus Go?

Yes, indirectly. New customers join on a standard tariff using the referral, then move to Intelligent Octopus Go once Octopus can read their smart meter. The £50 credit applies to the switch.

Who can't use an Octopus referral code?

Current Octopus customers, and anyone who was a customer in the last 12 months. You also lose the credit if you cancel before your supply starts or before your first Direct Debit.

Is there a box to enter an Octopus referral code at checkout?

Octopus's terms and help pages describe referrals made through a personal link. They don't describe a separate code box. The safest way is to open the link before you get a quote. Octopus says that if you forgot, you can contact it with the referral code afterwards, as long as you signed up directly on its website.

Does the same referral code work for businesses?

Yes. The referral page has a separate 'Get a business quote' option, and both use the same personal link.

Can I join Octopus Go or Agile straight away?

Smart tariffs need a SMETS2 or Secure SMETS1 smart meter that Octopus can read. New customers join on a standard tariff first, using the referral code, then switch once the meter is connected, which usually takes about 14 days.

Is Agile Octopus capped?

Yes. Agile unit rates are capped at 100p/kWh including VAT. Tracker is capped at 100p/kWh for electricity and 30p/kWh for gas.

Can I use the Octopus referral code for an EV tariff?

Yes. Switch to Octopus with the referral code on a standard tariff (you get the £50 credit), then move to Intelligent Octopus Go or Octopus Go once your smart meter is connected.

Which Octopus EV tariff is cheapest?

For eligible cars and chargers, Intelligent Octopus Go has the lowest advertised off-peak rate (from 7.6p/kWh). Octopus Go works with any EV. See our worked example for the maths.

How much does an Octopus heat pump cost?

Octopus gives a typical price of £4,064. That's the median quote after a survey and after the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, for quotes from 1 June to 30 September 2026. Your price depends on your home.

Which tariff suits a heat pump?

Cosy Octopus has eight cheap hours a day for heat pumps. If you also have an EV, Octopus says Intelligent Octopus Go often works out better.
