What is the Intelligent Octopus Go off-peak window?

23:30 to 05:30 every night for your whole home. You also get up to 6 hours of smart charging every 24 hours at the off-peak rate. If any of it is scheduled outside 23:30–05:30, your whole home gets the off-peak rate during those slots too.

Which cars and chargers work with Intelligent Octopus Go?

Octopus keeps an official checker on its Intelligent Octopus Go page ('Will it work for me?'). We don't copy the list because it changes often. Octopus says it can't guarantee compatibility because manufacturers' specs and APIs change.

What is a bump charge?

If you need to charge straight away, the app's 'bump charge' button starts charging now. It's billed at your Intelligent Octopus Go day rate.

What are the Octopus Go off-peak hours?

00:30 to 05:30 every night, all year. Octopus says the window doesn't move when the clocks change, even if your in-home display shows something different.

Do I need a home charger for Octopus Go?

Octopus's Go page says you don't need a home EV charger to join, but you do need an EV you charge at home and a smart meter Octopus can read.

Is Agile good for EV drivers?

It can be if you can charge in the cheapest half-hours, which often fall overnight. Prices can spike up to the 100p/kWh cap at peak times, so it suits people who actively manage their usage.

Should I pick Intelligent Octopus Go over Go?

If your car or charger is compatible, Octopus says Intelligent Octopus Go costs less than Go because Octopus can schedule charging around price spikes.

Are Octopus EV tariffs covered by the price cap?

Octopus says its variable EV tariffs are covered by the price cap, with peak and off-peak costs averaged over 24 hours. Fixed tariffs aren't covered. Octopus currently only offers fixed versions of Go and Intelligent Go.

Can I switch straight onto an EV tariff?

No. You need a smart meter Octopus can read, and it can only book an installation once you've switched. So you join on a standard tariff first (using the referral code for £50), then move to Go or Intelligent Go.

Do I get Electroverse discounts?

Yes. Intelligent Octopus Go customers get 8% off and Go customers 5% off public charging through Electroverse.
